How to Back Up WhatsApp Chats History and images to Google Drive

WhatsApp recent update 2.12.45 have a new back up Feature. This new Backup method lets you use google Drive to back up WhatsApp Conversation. Follow this Methods to simply backup and Restore your WhatsApp Chat history and Photos to google drive.

First Update WhatsApp by visiting WhatsApp Google PlayStore Page. Or you can Download the latest WhatsApp APK file from APK Mirror.

Once you finish installing the Update.

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings > Chat Settings > Chat Backup, you will see your last local backup time and Google Drive Settings. 

To Enable Google Drive backup, Under Google Drive Settings change the backup Frequency from off to Weekly or Daily.

Then you have to add your Google Account Email .and Select whether you want to backup using Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and Mobile networks.

Usually, WhatsApp does its Daily backup at 4:00 am Every Day so you have to wait until 4 am or you can Simply initiate it by tapping the Backup now option located on Top. The backup now Option will automatically create a local backup in your Phones internal Memory or SD card up and Send the Chat Data to Google Drive.

Once WhatsApp Started to backup you can’t stop the Process. If you have sent and received lot of media in Conversations the backup Size will be Quite Large, So be aware of that otherwise you will overuse your Data Usage.

When you Use WhatsApp on a new Phone, after you sign in with your mobile number, WhatsApp will check to see if there is any local backup or Google Drive Backup for your Account. If it found any backup Data the App will ask you to restore the Data from Drive or Local memory.

How to Download WhatsApp images to Computer

When a Image file or, or any media file is received in whatsApp. It will automatically stored in the Phone memory. You can download the media without Opening the corresponding WhatsApp message.

So when you receive an image file in WhatsApp the image will be stored in Phone’s memory card (SD card).with the help of DropSync Android App you can Send your WhatsApp images to your Computer.

I guess this method work only with Android version of WhatsApp. I have no idea about iPhone version.

How to Send WhatsApp Images to Computer

DropSync Scan the media folder of WhatsApp and when a Photo is added to that folder. The Photo will automatically sent to your Dropbox. You can also send the image to Google Drive and box Metactrl has Apps for that.

First Download DropSync from Google play and Install it.

1. Open Dropbox folder in your Computer and create a folder and rename to WhatsApp images or anything you want.

2. Open DropSync in your Smartphone and Authorize the App to Access your Dropbox Account.

3. Now set the default local folder as

“/storage/emulated/0/WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Images”

4. Now choose the Dropbox Folder for Saving Synced images in that case choose the Folder that you created in Step 1

5. In Sync method Select upload only. Because it’s not a 2 way sync. We want to Send WhatsApp images only.

6. By default the Auto sync interval is set to 1 hour. If you want to change that go to App Settings and Change the Autosync interval.

That’s it. When you receive an image on whatsApp. The image will automatically sent to your Dropbox. since your Computer is running the image will be saved to Dropbox.

How to Make Voice calls on WhatsApp

WhatsApp introduced a new Feature that allow WhatsApp users to make free calls to anyone who has WhatsApp on their Phone. Just like Viber, Skype, Line and other major Apps. WhatsApp call feature is still in Beta test and its working good with Android Phones.

WhatsApp voice calling is not officially released yet, but it is buried inside the latest Version of WhatsApp, follow the simple instruction given blow to activate WhatsApp call Feature.
