How to Set Up Family Sharing in iOS 8

Family Sharing is a feature Apple introduced in iOS 8, solves a long-standing issue within the world of the iPhone and iTunes: Helping families to share content bought or downloaded by one family member.

Once Family Sharing is created, any member of your family or who is part of your group can download any music, apps, TV shows, movies, and books downloaded by the other person which saves cash and lets the complete family enjoy the same entertainment.

In order to use Family Sharing, you first got to set it up. To do that, Every Family member needs any one of these:

An iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad

iOS eight or later

An Apple ID/iTunes account.


How to Set Up Family Sharing in iOS 8

Once all those needs are met, follow these methods to Set up Family Sharing:

One of the parents of the family should set up Family Sharing. The one that at first sets it up are going to be the Organizer, the role that has the foremost control over, she/he can control how Family Sharing works for every group members.so Choose who are going to be the Organizer.

On the Organizer's iOS device, open iOS Settings App.

Scroll all the way down to iCloud and tap it

Once you've started the Family Sharing set up, you will need to Do these things:

On the Family Setup screen, confirm you're logged in to your primary Apple ID which that is the ID you would like to use as the Organizer. Tap Continue if you want to change your Apple ID tap the link at the Bottom.

On the Share purchases screen, make sure that the Apple ID you're logged in to is that the one whose purchases you would like to share and tap Continue .if you want to change the ID tap the Bottom link.

On the Payment method screen, make sure the credit or debit card you've got on file in your Apple ID account is the one that you will use for shared purchases. Remember one very important thing the card will be used not only for your purchases, it is for every purchase made by everyone in your Family Sharing group. In order to share purchases, they have to be made using the same credit or debit card that you used. If any children under 18 try to buy something, you'll be asked to accept them.

On the Share your location with your family screen. You can choose to enable share my location a feature that lets your family members to see where you are (technically where your phone is) anytime. If you want to share your location with your family members Tap Share Your Location if not Tap Not Now and you will move on to the next step.

After you've set up Family Sharing as the Organizer, you can then invite your family members to join the group. Follow the below instruction to do that:

Tap Add Family Member

Enter your family member's name or email address (you must have this person listed in your Contacts)

The person name will appear, tap the Name.

Tap Next to continue.

Once you have selected the person you wish to add to your Family Sharing group, they can join the Group in two ways.

Ask to Enter Password Choose this option if the person is nearby you, so the person can enter his/her Apple ID Password to join your Group.

Send an Invitation—Choose this option if the person is not nearby. In this case they will receive invite asking them to join the group.

If that person has entered their password or accepted the invite, they will be asked to verify that which Apple ID they wish to use for family Sharing. Their Apple ID will Display on the screen. If they want to change they can change the account. Then tap next to continue.

Share Apps, Music, and Videos with Apple Family Sharing


Once the new member of your Family Sharing group has accepted the invite and signed in to their Apple account, they have to determine whether they will share their location or not. Sharing your Location will be very useful, it's important to know where your family is for safety and for meeting up.

To continue the user has to tap Share Location or Not Now and then tap next.

When that step is finished, the Organizer will be asked to log in to their iCloud account to finish the addition Process of the new member to the group.

Now the Organizer will return to the Family Sharing screen on their iOS device, where they can either add more members to the group.
